Naples – An arrest for drug dealing captures the stark reality of petty street crime. It occurred yesterday morning in Naples, where staff from the Vicaria-Mercato Police Station, engaged in extraordinary territorial control operations organized by the Police Headquarters, arrested a 31-year-old Moroccan citizen with a criminal record and an illegal immigrant.

During their patrol of Via Marco Di Lorenzo, officers witnessed a suspicious transaction being carried out: the man was handing over an item to an accomplice on a scooter, who immediately disappeared.

The Patrol's timely intervention allowed them to apprehend the dealer. In his account, in addition to the €5 bill, likely recently cashed, they found four doses of crack and twenty doses of hashish, ready for sale.

The man was therefore taken to prison pending judicial action. This incident is part of the State Police's daily commitment to combating drug dealing, which represents a particularly acute social problem for the community.

The situation in Naples seems increasingly complicated; street crime seems to be an unsolvable problem. I'm concerned for people's safety and hope law enforcement can do more.
