Naples - Late yesterday morning, a routine State Police patrol resulted in a record seizure in the Don Guanella neighborhood. Officers from the Office of General Prevention and Public Aid arrested a 49-year-old and a 35-year-old, both Neapolitans and already known to law enforcement for tobacco-related crimes.
The police were passing along Via Don Luigi Guanella when they noticed the two men carrying some boxes from an internal courtyard of a building.

The search uncovered 825 cartons of cigarettes, all without the State Monopoly seal, weighing a total of 165 kilos in 17 boxes. This quantity was likely destined for the black market in the neighborhood and surrounding areas.
The two, caught red-handed, were arrested on charges of smuggling foreign manufactured tobacco. All the material was seized. Investigations are continuing to identify any accomplices and the supply chain of the illegal "blondes."
