Naples - "It's better that I go to prison, otherwise it will end badly here." With this phrase, late this morning, a 54-year-old man showed up at the police station. police from Scampia, Naples, effectively ending his house arrest. The man had been confined at home for drug-related offenses.

According to investigative sources, the 54-year-old was serving his sentence at the home of a friend who was hosting him. This arrangement, as the days passed, turned into an explosive relationship.

The small apartment would not have provided adequate space, fueling daily tensions over seemingly trivial issues.

What apparently caused the situation to escalate was yet another heated argument with the landlord.

The arguments mainly concerned the management of shared spaces: the use of the kitchenette, bathroom, and shower would become a source of constant conflict, to the point of making, de facto, "cohabitation impossible," as investigators report.

Fearing the argument might escalate into something more serious, the 54-year-old decided to leave the house, technically escaping house arrest, and go directly to the police station to ask to be transferred to a penal institution. It was an unusual request, but one that, in his intentions, should have prevented further trouble.

Upon arriving at the Carabinieri station in Scampia, the man was identified and questioned by officers. After reconstructing the incident and determining that he had violated the house arrest regulations, the Carabinieri informed the magistrate on duty at the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office.

After assessing the overall situation, the prosecutor ordered the immediate revocation of house arrest and the transfer of the 54-year-old to prison. He was then taken to a prison in Naples, where he will continue serving his sentence for drug-related offenses.

It's strange that someone could choose prison over staying home, even if the situation was complicated. I hope this choice doesn't cause him further problems in the future.

I don't understand why a man would choose to go to prison instead of seeking help. Life at home must have been difficult, but ending up behind bars is never a solution. Reflection is needed.
