Naples – Naples officially kicked off the Christmas holidays, illuminating its streets and squares in an explosion of lights that covered the entire city. Last night, November 16th, a sea of people flooded Piazza Municipio to witness the symbolic lighting of the giant Christmas tree, an event that marked the early start of what promises to be an "extraordinary" Christmas.
The ceremony was attended by Mayor Gaetano Manfredi, Councilor for Tourism and Productive Activities Teresa Armato, and President of the Naples Chamber of Commerce Ciro Fiola. The anticipation was worth it with the inauguration of a massive project: 150 kilometers of illuminated streets and a total of 5.000 light installations throughout the city center and suburbs.
Mayor Manfredi emphasized the administration's commitment and the importance of collaborating with the Chamber of Commerce.

The mayor also emphasized the economic impact of the initiative: "We hope it will also be a business development opportunity for entrepreneurs. Neapolitans wanted these lights, and next year we will do even better: we must give this joy to citizens, children, and the many families who long for this moment of serenity."
"A tremendous effort to be ahead of the times"
Councilor Armato described the atmosphere in the square as "an emotional moment for the thousands of people," emphasizing the exceptional effort made to anticipate the times and ensure widespread lighting. "This year, we've put in a tremendous and extraordinary effort; we wanted to be ahead of the curve, as expansive as possible," she explained, highlighting the 5 installations, covering 150 kilometers of light.
The goal is clearly to capitalize on the tourist appeal during an already busy period. "The city is already packed with tourists, already packed with joyful people who come to our city in search of surprises, liveliness, and energy, which Naples truly abounds in," Armato concluded, officially welcoming Naples' "Bright Christmas."
