Naples – A routine evening in Mergellina turned into a high-impact police operation. Late yesterday evening, officers from the Office of General Prevention and Public Aid at the Naples Police Headquarters proceeded with the provisional arrest of a 39-year-old Slovakian, the subject of a European Arrest Warrant issued by the authorities of his home country. The charge? Damage to private property, a crime that led to his immediate capture for the purpose of handing him over to the Slovakian authorities.

It all started with a report to the Police Headquarters Operations Room: two individuals were causing a disturbance in Piazza Sannazaro, one of the liveliest areas of the Neapolitan seafront. Officers, engaged in a patrol operation to ensure public safety, responded quickly, reaching the scene within minutes.

At the scene, they identified the two individuals described by witnesses. During routine checks, one of them—the 39-year-old Slovakian—was found to be subject to a European arrest warrant, an international measure that obliges law enforcement to make an immediate arrest.

Without hesitation, the officers arrested the man and took him to the police headquarters for preliminary formalities. The operation concluded without incident, confirming the effectiveness of European judicial cooperation mechanisms in combating transnational crimes. The damage to private property, it emerged, may be related to vandalism committed in Slovakia, but the precise details are being examined by the competent authorities.

This incident highlights the importance of local prevention services, which not only maintain public order but also intercept international fugitives. The arrested man will soon be extradited, while investigations continue to clarify any possible links to illicit activities in Italy.

It's strange how certain situations can happen in places that seem safe, but in the end the police do a good job of maintaining order and stopping those who commit crimes, I wonder if there are more people who should be arrested.
