Naples - New controversy surrounds Rita De Crescenzo, the Neapolitan TikToker who has repeatedly been at the center of social and political controversies. This morning, at the Palizzi del Pallonetto school in Santa Lucia, her arrival at the polling station turned into a case: upon identification, De Crescenzo was found to have been removed from the electoral rolls, a condition that occurs when a change of residence is not notified to the municipality.
As a result, the woman was unable to vote. Within minutes, amid protests, protests, and frantic phone calls, chaos ensued.
The story comes weeks after the TikToker returned to the city's political scene for her call to vote for Forza Italia and, in particular, for her support for outgoing councilor Ciro Di Fenza, with whom she had made videos and live streams on social media.
The endorsement had already sparked strong reactions, especially since just two months ago, De Crescenzo, Di Fenza, and another well-known Neapolitan TikToker were involved in a sensational incident at the Campania Regional Council headquarters, where—amid shouting, loud voices, and live social media feeds—insults and slurs were hurled at institutions, sparking a political and institutional outcry with demands for clarification and action.

Today's latest incident reignites controversy. The harsh comment comes from Francesco Emilio Borrelli, a member of the Green-Side Alliance, who has long been critical of TikTok users, who enjoy large online followings despite often engaging in controversial behavior.
"It's ridiculous that, after weeks of shameless campaigning in support of outgoing councilor Di Fenza, we discover that De Crescenzo can't even cast her vote," Borrelli attacks. "She's been removed from the lists, meaning she's untraceable. And we know full well that those who want to avoid judicial notifications usually make themselves untraceable. I wouldn't be surprised to discover that she, too, attempted this ploy."
Then came the request for further investigation: "I hope the judiciary will also investigate this latest, disconcerting incident. We are faced with yet another episode that demonstrates the inadequacy and dangerousness of certain individuals who, far from being marginalized, continue to find space and visibility."
The case is set to dominate the headlines in the coming hours, fueling a political climate already heated by recent controversies and the increasingly marked overlap between influencers, election campaigns, and institutions.

The Rita De Crescenzo case is very complicated and raises questions about the electoral system. It's strange that someone so famous is unable to vote. There are many questions about how the electoral rolls work.
