Naples – A wave of widespread checks has rocked several neighborhoods in Naples, exposing a widespread system of illegal businesses. Local police have dealt a severe blow to this unregulated "parallel economy" with a major operation that led to the closure of five completely illegal businesses and the seizure of approximately 100 kg of food.
The raid, aimed at verifying the legality of garages, workshops, and shops, focused on several areas of the city. In the Stella neighborhood, officers searched Via Abate Minichini, Corso Amedeo di Savoia, and Via Foria.
Here, two grocery stores were discovered that not only lacked any permits, but were also illegally occupying public land with their merchandise. A third shop, though licensed, was also displaying its products outside, leaving them exposed to the elements and smog.
All the merchandise, approximately 100 kilograms, was seized and destined for destruction to protect public health.

The raid then moved to the Fuorigrotta area, where the local Operations Unit, in collaboration with staff from the ASL Napoli 1 Centro, focused their attention on the world of auto repairs.
A completely illegal motorcycle workshop was identified: the owner was issued a heavy fine, while all the equipment was placed under administrative seizure. In two other workshops in the same area, checks revealed the presence of illegally constructed mezzanines, which were promptly placed under criminal seizure.
Finally, a targeted operation in the Cotugno-Monaldi hospital area put an end to another illegal activity. Officers from the Scampia unit, with the support of the Building Protection Department, executed an immediate closure order for two outdoor parking garages operating without a license.
Investigations revealed that both businesses were run by the same company, already known to have operated in the past even on previously seized areas, demonstrating a repeat and unscrupulous illegal conduct.

E un bel articolo, ma mi pare che i controlli dovevano essere fatti prima. La situazione di illegalità a Napoli è molto complicata e non so se questi blitz possono davvero risolvere il problema in modo duraturo. Bisogna fare di più.
