Naples – A shattered windshield, a bicycle on the ground, and yet another body thrown onto the asphalt. Via Marina, one of Naples' busiest and most dangerous arteries, recorded yet another war report last night.
Shortly after 18 p.m., a taxi and a cyclist collided under circumstances that are still under investigation, but in a spot already notorious for its danger.
The impact was violent. According to initial reports gathered at the scene, the cyclist was thrown onto the hood of the car, hitting the windshield before falling to the ground.
Fortunately, despite his fright and some injuries, the man's prognosis was guarded but he remained conscious. An ambulance quickly arrived on the scene to provide first aid and transport him to the hospital.
The aftermath of the accident, however, did not end with the arrival of rescue.

Borrelli, with those images on his phone, didn't mince his words. "Via Marina continues to be one of the most dangerous arteries in Naples, the scene of almost daily accidents," the MP thundered. "This isn't an isolated case; it's the symptom of a chronic emergency. Drivers, motorcyclists, cyclists, and pedestrians: no one is safe."
His analysis points to specific responsibilities. "It's clear that an urgent safety and maintenance plan is needed. We're calling for efficient and clear signage, constant checks to stop driving madness, and structural interventions, such as speed bumps or road restrictions, to force drivers to respect the speed limit."
Borrelli's appeal goes beyond a generic request for caution. "Those who drive must take responsibility, that's true. But institutions must ensure safe roads and protected bike paths. We can't leave everything to the prudence of individuals when the urban environment is so hostile."
The final warning is a gut punch for an administration held accountable for delays and negligence. "Every avoidable accident is a defeat for everyone. We can no longer afford to count injuries and fatalities. On Via Marina, and on many other roads like this, we must change course. Now." While the city ponders, yet another accident on Via Marina becomes the symbol of an emergency that still awaits a response.

The accident on Via Marina clearly shows how serious the road conditions are in Naples. It's incredible that nothing is being done to improve safety. Government officials must take serious and urgent action to protect everyone.
