Naples – A major restoration and redevelopment project has returned Naples' artistic heritage to its former splendor: the three monumental fountains of Capodimonte, three true jewels that had long ceased to provide water, are back in operation.
The works, funded by the City of Naples with an investment of over 450 euros, were inaugurated this morning in the presence of Mayor Gaetano Manfredi, marking the conclusion of a complex restoration project.
The Reanimated Jewels
The restoration involved in particular:
The two fountains of the Tondo di Capodimonte and the Gardens of Princess Iolanda.
The Duchess's Fountain, located near the Basilica of the Crowned Mother of Good Counsel.
The wear and tear of time and prolonged exposure to atmospheric agents had compromised the original state of the stone structures.

The project was not limited to aesthetic restoration, but also introduced a profound renovation of the systems:
The Tondo and Princess Iolanda Gardens fountains, which already featured recirculation, have received completely renovated systems. ABC (Naples Water Company) supported the project by installing new pumps, replacing pipes, updating the electrical system, and renewing the lighting fixtures.
A true turning point concerns the Duchessa Fountain, originally conceived as a simple drinking trough. Thanks to these renovations, it was equipped for the first time with a complete water system for water recirculation and treatment, transforming it into a fully-fledged fountain.
To maximize the scenic effect, ABC also replaced the final nozzles, which now enhance the water jet, restoring the fountains to their former splendor.
The lighting of the fountains is not just an act of restoration, but a strong signal of the Administration's commitment to restoring urban beauty and enhancing Naples' historic assets.
