Naples – A tense morning unfolded in the heart of Naples, where the State Police arrested a 38-year-old Tunisian citizen, an illegal immigrant in Italy with a criminal record.
The man, identified as the main perpetrator of an episode of violence against law enforcement, was arrested for assault and resisting a public official, illegal possession of a weapon, and aggravated damage to public property.
The operation took place in the early hours of the morning, during a routine territorial control operation entrusted to officers from the Vicaria-Mercato and Vasto-Arenaccia police stations.
The police officers, engaged in a patrol, noticed the suspicious presence of the man inside a state-owned building on Via Seripando, an area known for petty crime and illegal occupations.

From the first moment he approached them, the 38-year-old displayed a hostile attitude and showed a lack of patience. Without warning, he pulled out a kitchen knife hidden on his person and lunged at the officers, attempting to stab one of them.
The ensuing struggle was brief but intense: the man damaged a police officer's uniform, tearing it during the struggle, while the officers reacted quickly to disarm and restrain him. Fortunately, the officer's injuries were minor, limited to superficial abrasions, and did not require prolonged hospital treatment.
Once the threat was neutralized, the Tunisian man was arrested on the spot by the security personnel. He was taken to the police station and is now at the disposal of the judicial authorities, awaiting the summary hearing scheduled for the next few hours.
