Naples – The area beneath Via Ponte della Maddalena, near the Prefecture offices, which had long been transformed into a makeshift settlement, has finally been returned to municipal ownership.
Shacks, waste, and illegal bedding were removed this morning by officers from the Environmental and Social Emergencies Investigation Unit of the Local Police, with the support of Asia staff and the State Property Agency.
The project, ordered after a meeting of the Prefecture's Committee for Public Order and Security, is part of the redevelopment efforts promoted by the Permanent Technical Committee for Urban Decorum.
Coordination, entrusted to Ciro Turiello, has already enabled dozens of extraordinary maintenance, cleaning, and, in the most critical cases, remediation operations in recent months.
In the coming days, Asia will continue its waste disposal operations, which are particularly extensive in this area. The project, strongly supported by the mayor, involves departments, municipal services, and participating companies, with the goal of restoring safe, clean, and fully usable public spaces to residents—from the city center to the suburbs.
