Naples is reclaiming Via Alessandro Manzoni. After Sunday's forced closure due to a sudden subsidence, the road was reopened in the early hours of the morning. The collapse, which occurred near numbers 201 and 203, was caused by a broken sewer pipe, requiring traffic to be halted and emergency repairs to be carried out.
Specialized teams worked tirelessly to restore the arterial road to full safety. The sewer was repaired, the pavement resurfaced, and the roadway reconsolidated, allowing it to reopen to traffic. A rapid response to a breakdown that, in another part of the city and at another time, could have paralyzed traffic for days.
With normality restored, it remains to be seen how much more constant monitoring the underground systems require to prevent similar incidents in the future. Meanwhile, Via Manzoni is once again open to traffic, providing residents and motorists with a vital connection between the Vomero hill and the coastal area.

I see the road is back open, but I'm wondering why it collapsed so suddenly. It's important to check the sewer pipes more frequently to avoid similar problems in the future.
That's true, but perhaps they should also communicate better when these problems arise. People need to know what's happening and what solutions are being implemented.
