The Naples Nurses' Association expresses its gratitude to Prefect Michele Di Bari for his prompt response to yet another case of violence against healthcare workers. The incident, which occurred in the emergency room of San Paolo Hospital, involved a nurse who was attacked during her shift.
"We deeply appreciate the government representative's firm condemnation of this barbaric attack," said Teresa Rea, president of Opi Napoli. But the most significant aspect, Rea emphasized, is "the rapid and effective measures adopted to protect healthcare workers."
Prefect Di Bari has urgently convened the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Safety, inviting nurses to actively participate. This is an important development: the profession will be able to directly bring its proposals to the institutional table to combat assaults in hospital wards.
The initiative represents a departure from traditional management of health emergencies, opening a direct channel between those who work daily in hospitals and the authorities responsible for public safety.

The meeting revealed that law enforcement will continue to carry out its work, also ensuring an increased police presence to ensure the maximum safety of the hospital's healthcare staff.
Gubitosa, Director General of the Naples Local Health Authority (ASL 1), visited the hospital to express his solidarity with the healthcare workers. On site, he identified several improvements that could make the triage area at San Paolo Hospital safer, ensuring the necessary privacy for patients and healthcare workers in the Emergency Room compared to their families or companions.
Work has already been planned to be carried out in this regard, and planning is underway to complete it as soon as possible. Gubitosa then held a subsequent meeting at the strategic management office of the ASL NAPOLI 1 Centro, attended by the company's health director, Maria Corvino, and staff from the San Paolo hospital. Numerous organizational and improvement proposals were presented for the hospital.
"As soon as possible," Gubitosa explains, "the company will implement measures and functional and structural reorganization to meet the needs and requirements of healthcare workers in carrying out their duties."
