Boscoreale - An ambush, or perhaps it was meant to be a warning, occurred in the middle of the night in Boscoreale. An 18-year-old man, Pasquale Nappo, with no criminal record and widely described as a hard worker, was killed by a single gunshot while he was in the square with his friends.
The murder, which occurred around 2:30 a.m., has the hallmarks of a Camorra-style ambush, but the victim's profile opens up complex investigative scenarios, first and foremost that of a tragic case of mistaken identity.
The young man, originally from Pompeii, was in Piazza Pace, where the City Hall is located, an area covered by security cameras. The evening seemed to be passing peacefully, amidst conversation and laughter, when suddenly a scooter with two people on board appeared.
The killers left no escape: they slowed down, fired a gunshot at chest height, and fled into the darkness, leaving the 18-year-old on the ground in a pool of blood. The bullet struck him in the armpit, a vital area.
Rescue efforts were immediate.

The investigation was entrusted to the Carabinieri of the Torre Annunziata investigative unit, who immediately acquired the images from the video surveillance cameras in the area.
The hope is that the footage will provide useful information to identify the two hitmen and the scooter used to get away. The murder occurred just a few hundred meters from the Carabinieri barracks, a detail that makes the attack even more audacious, almost a challenge to the state.
At the moment, no theory has been ruled out, but mistaken identity seems the most likely, given the victim's lack of a criminal record.
The Boscorela area has recently been hit by violent attacks by young Camorristi from nearby Boscotrecase who are trying to assert themselves.
