After the murder last night that saw the death of the 19 year old Marco Pio Salomone In the Arenaccia neighborhood, officers from the Naples Mobile Squad – Homicide Unit worked tirelessly, collecting evidence, testimonies, and video surveillance footage. And in less than twenty-four hours, a breakthrough came: the arrest of a 15-year-old boy.
The minor, a Neapolitan, is charged with aggravated murder and illegal possession and carrying of a firearm. The case, initiated by District Anti-Mafia Directorate, was then transferred to the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office, a clear sign of the new criminal landscape that investigators find themselves facing: increasingly younger, increasingly unscrupulous groups, capable of shooting and killing with the coolness of veterans.
The motive, still under wraps, may be rooted in the undergrowth of youth gang rivalries that have been rocking the working-class neighborhoods of the capital for weeks.
The 15-year-old had been identified and was being sought by the Police State police since yesterday. This morning he turned himself in to police headquarters, accompanied by his lawyer. Investigators, however, are maintaining a very strict confidentiality regarding the case and are not disclosing any details about the motive for the murder.

Marco Pio Salomone, 19, with a criminal record for drug dealing and having escaped another ambush in 2024 despite his young age, was fatally wounded in the night between Friday and Saturday by a gunshot to the head while he was in his car on Via Generale Francesco Pinto in the Arenaccia district with three friends (two of whom have criminal records) around 1:30 am.
The injury occurred near an arcade: his friends immediately took him to the hospital, where, however, Salomone - deemed inoperable by doctors due to the severity of his condition - died after a few hours.

Meanwhile, at the Arenaccia, the echoes of that night linger: a desperate run, gunshots shattering the silence, and a boy lying on the ground while the city, for the umpteenth time, wonders where this new generation, raised in fear, poverty, and gunpowder, is going.
