Naples – A Campania regional government employee, paid with public money, is working as an "illegal parking attendant" in a historic site reduced to an illegal souk. This scandal erupted yesterday in Largo Tarsia, in the heart of Naples, thanks to a surprise raid by the Green-Left Alliance MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli. A tale of degradation and illegality that tramples upon centuries of history and embarrasses the institutions.
At the suggestion of exasperated residents, the MP set foot in the area that once housed the majestic Palazzo Spinelli di Tarsia, an unfinished jewel of Neapolitan Rococo.
Today, only a memory remains of that grandeur: in its place, an illegal parking lot thriving undisturbed. And here, the inspection turns into a scoop. Borrelli stumbles upon a man who, along with accomplices, manages the illegal parking. The damning evidence? A plastic bag, brandished with ease, filled with car keys. Proof that citizens are entrusting their vehicles to these "porters" of illegality.
But it's the identity of one of the alleged "parking attendants" that has sparked the scandal. Local sources and residents have identified one of the men active in the area as an employee of the Campania Regional Council, employed at Isola A6 in the Centro Direzionale.
An official who, according to the prosecution, works for the public administration during the day and, at other times, actively contributes to the degradation of the city that the institutions are supposed to protect.
MP Borrelli's statements leave no room for interpretation: "This is an unacceptable affront to the history, legality, and dignity of Naples," he thunders. "Here, where once stood works by Giotto and Titian, today there is an unseemly souk. But the greatest outrage is discovering that this illegality could be managed by a public employee."
If confirmed, this isn't just a crime, it's a surrender by the state. We demand immediate and severe disciplinary action: dismissal. We cannot tolerate those paid by citizens flouting the rules and the city itself."
The MP has already requested immediate intervention by law enforcement to clear the area and has announced parliamentary questions to shed full light on the regional employee's situation. Politicians are being held accountable, while in Largo Tarsia, history still awaits someone to restore its dignity.

A new lifestyle... a resource... summary dismissal. TFR confiscated due to damage to the region's image... millions of euros... all properties confiscated to compensate for the damage to the region's image... given his behavior, checks should be made to see if he showed any favoritism to acquaintances in exchange for... black market compensation.
I agree with you, but I think the problem is bigger than it seems. If an employee does this, it means there are others supporting or justifying him. A profound reform is needed.
This article is truly scandalous—a public employee who works as an illegal parking attendant? It's unacceptable that people behave like this, and nothing is being done to stop it. Institutions must intervene immediately to resolve this situation.
