Pietrarsa lights up with magic: the seventh edition of the Christmas Markets kicks off.

From November 29th to January 6th, the Railway Museum transforms into a Christmas village with wooden huts, shows, and Santa's House. Reduced admission with the historic train.

Portici – The Christmas Markets at the Pietrarsa National Railway Museum reopen today, Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Now in its seventh year, the museum will transform into a Christmas village until January 6, 2026.

The event, organized by the FS Italiane Foundation, offers a journey through local crafts, Campanian cuisine, and performances in a unique setting where railway history blends with festive tradition.

The museum's 000 square meters are filled with traditional wooden houses, decorated and illuminated by thousands of colored lights, creating a fairytale setting overlooking the Gulf of Naples. Street artists and bands will perform in parades, concerts, and dances along the avenues, while children can visit Santa's House, write their letters, and admire the locomotives that pulled the famous Polar Express up close.

The gastronomic offering includes temporary refreshment points and permanent establishments at Terrazze Pietrarsa: Pizzeria, Bistrot and Caffè Bayard, with typical Campania products and seasonal delicacies.

Museum visits and opening hours

The entire period allows you to immerse yourself in the history of the Italian State Railways, visiting the rich collection of 55 vehicles, including steam locomotives, carriages, and "Littorine," as well as the 18-meter "Trecentotreni" model, housed in the old Bourbon pavilions. The museum is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 am to 22:00 pm, with last admission at 9:30 pm; closed on Mondays and on certain dates in December (1, 21, 15, 24, 25, and 31). For an additional €2,00, guided tours can be booked on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays at 11:00 am, 12:30 pm, 15:00 pm, and 17:00 pm.

Tickets and access methods

Admission costs €1,00 for holders of a return ticket on the historic "Pietrarsa Express" train, while it's reduced to €6,00 ​​for holders of a single ticket. The Christmas markets seem like a great way to attract people to the museum. However, I wonder if there will be enough attractions for children and if the prices will be affordable. I hope everything is well organized.
