Torre del Greco - Twelve hours after hitting a police car carrying Aniello Scarpati and his colleague, he showed up at Maresca Hospital in Torre del Greco with his lawyer.
Tommaso Severino, 28, is the young man who, according to investigators, was driving the BMW that caused the fatal accident on the Torre del Greco coast road. Police located him in the hospital around 1:30 PM today, November 1st, after searching for him for hours and even raiding his home.
The 28-year-old, with no criminal record and no ties to criminal circles, owns a clothing wholesale business in Ercolano with his family.

Aniello Scarpati, 48, died instantly. His colleague, the driver, was injured and transferred to the Ospedale del Mare in Naples. He is in critical condition and is intubated and on mechanical ventilation.
There were six people on board the SUV. Five were located immediately. Four of them were at Maresca Hospital, while a fifth person went to the police station. The sixth is 28-year-old Tommaso Severino, arrested after hours of searching by the State Police with colleagues from the Torre del Greco Highway Patrol and police station. Condolences to the victim's family—Scarpati leaves behind a wife and three children—and sympathy has been expressed from politicians and officials. "I learned of the road accident that occurred in Torre del Greco in the early hours of today, involving a State Police vehicle on duty, in which Assistant Chief Coordinator Aniello Scarpati lost his life. Deeply saddened, I express my solidarity and closeness to you and the entire Corps, asking you to convey my heartfelt condolences to the family," wrote the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, in a telegram sent to the head of the police force, Vittorio Pisani. The Head of State extends his heartfelt wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured officer.
Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi expressed his "deep sadness." Police Chief Vittorio Pisani expressed his deepest condolences to the family of the officer who lost his life last night in the line of duty. "His dedication," he said, "and his sacrifice are and always will be an example for all of us. To his loved ones, the love and support of all the women and men of the great family of the State Police."
