Six people were reported and a garage was seized in the operation: an 18-year-old with an arsenal in his pocket and a 39-year-old with two fake licenses, a crackdown in the VIP neighborhood.
Naples – The other side of Posillipo, a neighborhood symbolic of Naples' upper class, emerged yesterday during a shocking Carabinieri operation, which exposed a widespread undergrowth of lawlessness.
A wide-ranging operation, involving numerous military personnel, resulted in six reports and the seizure of an illegal and dangerous garage on Viale Villa Santa Maria.
The raid, which began with territorial control, dismantled several illegal operations. The first to be caught was an 18-year-old, apprehended on Via Caracciolo, in front of a popular beach resort. During the search, the Carabinieri found a veritable pocket arsenal on him: a switchblade and a homemade awl.
But it is in front of the church of Sant'Antonio, one of the most iconic and photographed places in the city, the "set" of the traditional postcard of Naples, that the military broke up the racket of illegal parking attendants.

The gallery of characters doesn't end there. A 39-year-old man, driving without a license, attempted to deceive law enforcement. Unfortunately, he presented two documents, both forged. The double forgery didn't save him from being charged.
The operation did not overlook the phenomenon of drug dealing and consumption: five young people were identified and reported to the Prefecture of Naples as drug users.
The most shocking incident in terms of public safety, however, occurred in the upper Mergellina area. The Carabinieri of Posillipo, along with the local police and firefighters, inspected a parking garage on Viale Villa Santa Maria. What they discovered exceeded even their wildest expectations: instead of the 32 permitted cars, the premises housed a staggering 82, a crowding that transformed the area into a death trap, posing serious risks to public safety in the event of a fire or other incident. For this reason, the garage was immediately seized, and the person responsible for the business was reported.
An operation that, numbers in hand, paints a picture of a neighborhood under siege, where illicit activities thrive, from drug dealing to counterfeiting, from parking rackets to the criminal management of commercial activities, threatening the safety of one of Naples' most precious gems.

I read the article and it seems to me that the situation in Posillipo is truly worrying. It's unacceptable that there are so many illegal activities in such a famous neighborhood. Let's hope the police continue to do their job.
