Naples - The collapse occurred near the entrance to number 23 and involved a private retaining wall.

The landslide was reported by several residents, awakened by the sound of the collapse and alarmed by the sudden mass of debris that invaded part of the roadway below. Images of the incident quickly began circulating on social media, particularly Facebook, fueling concern among the local community.

Roadway blocked and traffic in difficulty

The collapsed tuff wall has occupied part of the entrance driveway to Carelli Park, requiring immediate intervention by the Fire Department. Engineers are assessing the stability of the area, while access has been partially blocked: the driveway at number 23 is currently closed, while pedestrian access remains permitted. Via Parco Carelli remains open to traffic, albeit with some disruption.

Meanwhile, the City of Naples has confirmed that the owners of the collapsed wall have already hired a specialized firm to begin urgent safety measures, an essential step to proceed with reconstruction.

Not just Posillipo: disruptions also in Soccavo

The severe weather also affected other areas of the city. Further critical issues were reported in Soccavo, with minor subsidence and landslides requiring the authorities' intervention and the demarcation of at-risk areas.

The City Council's statement: "The situation is being monitored, and maximum caution is advised."

In an official statement, the municipal administration reiterated that the Civil Protection Department is constantly monitoring the area to ensure the safety of residents and monitor any developments in the landslide.

"The fallen debris invaded part of the underlying driveway leading to number 23, necessitating the immediate intervention of the Fire Department, who are assessing the safety conditions in the area. [...] The area is being monitored by the municipal Civil Protection Department to ensure the safety of residents and monitor the situation as it evolves."

The Municipality urges all residents to exercise extreme caution, especially during these days marked by adverse weather conditions and particularly waterlogged ground.

It's important that the municipality takes the collapse situation seriously, because if it doesn't intervene quickly, there could be major problems, such as further collapses in other areas. Citizen safety is paramount in these cases.
