POZZUOLI – He was hiding in a guesthouse on Via Antiniana, but his escape was foiled thanks to the quick thinking and prompt action of the State Police. Yesterday morning, officers from the Pozzuoli Police Station arrested a 30-year-old Tunisian citizen, the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by his country's authorities for the crimes of fraud and document forgery.
The man was identified during a local check, activated following a tip generated by the "accommodated" system, which alerts law enforcement to the presence of wanted or suspicious individuals staying in accommodation facilities. Officers arrived on the scene, located the 30-year-old and arrested him pursuant to an international warrant issued on August 18th.
The wanted man, who allegedly carried out several fraud schemes in Tunisia using forged documents, was taken to the police station for identification and is now awaiting the Italian judicial authorities' decisions regarding the initiation of extradition proceedings.
