Pozzuoli – The fight against drug trafficking in the Phlegraean Fields has achieved another significant breakthrough. A nighttime operation conducted by the Carabinieri of the Pozzuoli Company led to the arrest of three people—two men and a woman—charged with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
The raid, the result of careful and prolonged surveillance and observation by the Operations Section, took place in the early hours of the morning in an apartment located on Via Strada della Colmata. An area that, according to investigators, had become a hotspot for illicit activity.
The raid and the seizure
Once inside the house, the Carabinieri surprised and arrested the three individuals: Vincenzo Solmonte, 42, Oreste Orselli, 57, and the latter's daughter, a thirty-year-old with no criminal record.
The subsequent meticulous and thorough house search led to the recovery of a veritable drug dealer's "kit." Several doses of three different types of drugs were found and seized, already divided and ready for sale: cocaine, hashish, and marijuana. The total weight of the seized narcotics amounted to approximately 40 grams.
In addition to the merchandise, the Carabinieri seized all the tools of the trade: packaging materials (bags, cellophane); a precision scale, essential for dividing doses. And finally, a cell phone which, according to initial investigations, contained messages and chats deemed fully relevant to drug dealing, confirming the investigative hypothesis.
The three, caught red-handed, were immediately arrested for possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking and, pending further judicial decisions, were taken to the police station. This operation underscores the constant vigilance of law enforcement in combating illicit drug trafficking in the Pozzuoli area.

Congratulations, exemplary sentences, THE STATE ALWAYS WINS
It's clear that many people are involved in these illegal activities, but the real solution should also be prevention and education among young people about the risks of drug use.
Yes, it's right for law enforcement to do their job, but it often seems like the problems return soon afterward. A broader strategy is needed to address the drug issue.
The Carabinieri operation appears to be an important step against drug dealing in Pozzuoli. However, questions remain as to whether these actions will be enough to stem the drug problem in this area.
