Naples - Breakthrough in the investigations into the gang of robberies of luxury watches. A prison arrest and four residence bans in Campania mark the culmination of a detailed investigation by the Naples Flying Squad, coordinated by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate.

The five recipients of the precautionary measures are seriously suspected, to varying degrees, of criminal conspiracy aimed at committing snatch thefts and robberies of high-value watches, committed not only in Italy but also abroad.

According to investigators' reconstruction, the gang allegedly struck in several Spanish cities and in some Italian towns such as Turin, Lucca, and the most popular areas of the Romagna Riviera, favoring wealthy victims and high-profile targets.

The arrest of Salvatore Fiorillo junior

The most severe measure was imposed on Salvatore Fiorillo Jr., 42, originally from San Giorgio a Cremano, who was subject to a precautionary custody order.

Fiorillo is considered seriously suspected not only of having participated in the robberies, but also of an episode of extortion aggravated by mafia methods, committed against a businessman, taking advantage – according to investigators – of the intimidating power of the Mallardo clan, historically rooted in the area north of Naples.

The investigations and reconstruction of the criminal network

The investigations, conducted between 2019 and 2022, allowed us to reconstruct in detail the activities of the alleged criminal organization, identifying its members and the roles covered by each.

Investigators have documented numerous criminal incidents, managing to paint a clear picture of the group's modus operandi: quick robberies, often carried out with extreme precision and planning, followed by a rapid escape abroad.
