Salerno - It's not just chocolate, it's a 35-meter-long trail of sweetness that transformed Salerno's seafront into a Guinness World Record-breaking stage. Last night, before the incredulous eyes of hundreds of people and the watchful eye of notary Marica De Feo, master chocolatier Mirco Della Vecchia created the world's longest chocolate bar, a feat that reflects both the region and artisanal courage.
The event, which crowned the third edition of "Salerno Dolcissima," was more than just a performance, but a true declaration of love for Italian excellence. A gigantic slab of 65% chocolate, approximately 40 centimeters wide, crafted using nearly 200 kilograms of raw materials and enriched with the aromas of Southern Italy: candied Amalfi Coast lemon peel and dried white figs from Cilento. A combination that expresses the region not only through words, but through flavors.
Last night was the twentieth time that Mirco Della Vecchia has entered the record books, and yet the emotion does not diminish.

A collective effort, as the organizers described it, born under the aegis of CNA Salerno and organized by the Associazione Italia Eventi. A symbol that goes beyond chocolate. "Achieving this record," emphasized CNA President Antonio Citro and Director Simona Paolillo, "was a symbolic tribute to all the artisans who every day overcome their own limitations and challenges, and persevere in a fast-paced world. For us, the record means continuing to share a snapshot that speaks volumes about our culture and our know-how."
The crowd of gourmands and curious onlookers crowded around the long table confirmed the success of the event. "It was a great collective celebration," said Giuseppe Lupo, president of Italia Eventi, "which put chocolate at the center, but above all, the artisans. Ultimately, that's what we try to do at every stop of Choco Italia: bring a unique heritage of sweet treats and traditional products to the entire central and southern regions."
While the gigantic tablet was being measured, certified, and then, presumably, gently "dismembered" and distributed, Salerno added a new, fragrant piece to its story. Not just a record, but a hymn to craftsmanship that never stops dreaming big. Indeed, dreaming very long.
