San Giorgio a Cremano – The fleeting freedom of Salvatore Guarino, a 43-year-old local man with a criminal record that makes him well known to law enforcement, didn't last long. Carabinieri from the local station arrested him late this morning on charges of escape, a crime that adds to a series of ongoing cases against him.
Guarino, already under house arrest for unspecified charges—which investigative sources link to widespread petty crime in the Vesuvian area—was identified and arrested in Piazza Massimo Troisi, the beating heart of San Giorgio's historic center.

The square, named after the late Neapolitan actor and a daily destination for residents and passersby, was briefly transformed into the scene of a lightning operation: Carabinieri officers, conducting an anti-déterioration patrol, noticed the man wandering around for no apparent reason, violating the order to stay at home.

I read the article and it seems strange to me how this person could leave his home while under house arrest. Perhaps there are flaws in the legal system that allow those with criminal records to escape easily. It's a serious problem.
