San Giorgio a Cremano – He thought he was safe early in the morning on a deserted Via Roma. Instead, for Francesco Losacco, 24, his escape from house arrest lasted the space of a glance. All it took was a moment to peer through the door, check for patrol cars, and think he was free.
What he couldn't know is that his "freedom" would last less than a minute, stopped not by a patrol, but by the insight of a marshal of the Carabinieri on foot, in plain clothes and off duty.
The soldier was walking across Piazza Troisi to go to the barracks and start his shift.

After the marshal's call, reinforcements arrived on the scene, including a "Gazzella" squad from the local station. The search left no trace: in his pocket were 94 grams of marijuana, already divided into drug-dealing quantities, and €210 in cash, likely the proceeds of his illicit activity.
For Losacco, who was under house arrest for previous crimes, there was nothing that could be done. The escape turned into a double arrest: for that same escape and for possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking. A bitter awakening, which, instead of bringing him temporary freedom, landed him straight in prison awaiting trial.
