Santa Maria Capua Vetere: A 44-year-old woman flees a police station and attacks the police.

The car was already impounded, but she attempted to escape anyway. A scuffle ensued in the street, resulting in a Carabiniere injured and a 44-year-old woman placed under house arrest.

Santa Maria Capua Vetere – A routine traffic stop quickly escalated into an assault on Carabinieri officers. It happened late yesterday morning, November 24, 2025, when a patrol from the Santa Maria Capua Vetere Company's Operations and Radiomobile Unit stopped an Opel Insignia whose license plate number, upon immediate investigation, was found to be associated with a vehicle already under administrative seizure.

The driver was a 44-year-old woman, a resident of the city.

When asked for her documents, the driver allegedly attempted to flee to avoid further seizure, prompting the Carabinieri to quickly pursue her. When caught shortly thereafter, the woman allegedly reacted violently, resisting and physically assaulting the officers.

During the fight, one of the soldiers was injured: he was taken to the Pineta Grande hospital in Castel Volturno, where doctors diagnosed him with injuries that were expected to heal in seven days.

The 44-year-old was then arrested on charges of assault, assault, and resisting a public officer. After the usual formalities, by order of the judicial authorities, she was placed under house arrest pending a summary trial. The Carabinieri of the Santa Maria Capua Vetere Company informed the competent prosecutor's office.
