Santa Maria Capua Vetere – The cameras of A day in the Magistrates Court, with the journalist Antonella Nafra, returned today to the Court of the city of Foro to resume a hearing that attracted public attention: that of the trial of Amedeo Di Maro, 50 years old, resident in Santa Maria Capua Vetere, accused of assaulting Professor Giuseppe Morelli, vice-principal of the Gallozzi Institute.
Prosecutor Armando Bosso supported the prosecution, reconstructing the events that occurred approximately two years ago, when the defendant, in a fit of rage, stormed the school during a parents' protest and violently attacked Morelli, causing serious injuries that would heal within 80 days. According to the investigation, the attack arose from a sensational case of mistaken identity: Di Maro had confused the vice principal with another teacher who, according to some students, had been "annoying" the man's daughter.
During the hearing, Di Maro made spontaneous statements, downplaying the facts: "I just slapped him and then apologized," he said.

The prosecution accuses the defendant of aggravating circumstances related to the victim's status as a public official, as a tenured teacher and vice principal. The investigation was triggered by the complaint filed by Professor Morelli at the Police Station, assisted by attorneys Gaetano and Raffaele Crisileo, who are now also representing the civil plaintiff in the trial.
The next hearing, scheduled for November 20th before Judge Alessandra Vona, will be dedicated to the final arguments and the sentencing. Rai 3 will also be present at that hearing to document the outcome of the proceedings, which will be broadcast on its historic court news program.
