Naples – A toxic load of about a ton of waste, ready to be abandoned in the streets of escape, was seized this morning by the Naples Local Police in an operation that stopped two alleged illegal transporters in the act.
The raid began at dawn, carried out by officers from the Investigation, Environmental, and Social Emergencies unit. The two suspects, who had been tailed for some time, were intercepted while they were aboard a Ford Transit van loaded with hazardous waste from the tanning process.
According to initial reports, the criminal's goal was to dump the enormous amount of waste near the Roma camp in Scampia, in yet another serious attack on the environment and public health.
They were about to unload him near the Roma camp
Caught red-handed, the two men were immediately arrested and charged with violating the environmental code. Not only were they arrested, but also the vehicle responsible for the environmental disaster: the van was seized.
Thanks to the timely action of law enforcement and in coordination with the prosecutor on duty at the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office, the threat was neutralized. The ton of polluting material, instead of polluting the area, was safely transported and properly disposed of at the ASIA recycling center, where it will be disposed of according to legal procedures.
The operation represents a significant blow against the illegal waste disposal racket, a phenomenon that continues to plague the Naples province, demonstrating how territorial control and investigative activity can foil even the most unscrupulous plans.

It's truly incredible how serious the waste situation in Naples is. The two people who attempted to dump a toxic load must be severely punished. I hope the authorities continue to monitor these illegal activities to protect the environment.
