Naples – A routine check turns into a report for possession of an improper weapon. The perpetrator of the incident is a 19-year-old from Secondigliano, already known to law enforcement, who was stopped by Carabinieri officers from the local station while riding a scooter.

The raid was triggered by a seemingly simple check. The officers stopped the young man, who was immediately discovered to be without a driver's license. However, the irregularities didn't stop there: the scooter was found to be driving without insurance and without a periodic inspection certificate. This was sufficient evidence to order the administrative seizure of the vehicle.

It was during the vehicle inspection that the dramatic turn of events occurred. The Carabinieri, inspecting the scooter's seat compartment, found not only everyday objects, but also an inconvenient "treasure": a blank pistol. A discovery that radically changed the scope of the offense.

The gun itself is a blank-firing device, designed to scare animals. But a significant detail makes the situation more serious: the device was missing its "red cap," the feature that, by law, identifies its non-lethal nature and regulates its carrying. Tampering with this element de facto transforms the blank-firing gun into a potentially dangerous weapon, comparable to an improperly carried weapon.

The 19-year-old, caught red-handed, was unable to provide any plausible justification for possessing the tampered object. In addition to fines for driving without a license and for vehicle irregularities, he was reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office for illegal possession of a weapon (specifically, a blank-firing pistol made dangerous by the lack of a permit).
