Naples - Two new arrests have been made in the swift kidnapping of a fifteen-year-old from San Giorgio a Cremano. They are believed to be the alleged accomplices of Antonio Amiral, the primary perpetrator of the kidnapping, who was arrested on April 9th after a ransom of €1.5 million was demanded.
The Naples investigating judge has ordered a precautionary measure against them for kidnapping for extortion, a charge aggravated by the method of the action and the amount of the ransom demanded, at the request of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate.
The investigation, entrusted to the Flying Squad and the Economic and Financial Police Unit of Naples, focuses on the role of the two alleged accomplices in the logistical organization of the kidnapping, from the procurement of the van to the use of the hideout apartment.
The kidnapping of April 8th
The kidnapping dates back to April 8, 2025, when the fifteen-year-old, son of a businessman, was stopped on the street in San Giorgio a Cremano on his way to school. The boy was reportedly grabbed, dragged into a white van, and then taken to an apartment in eastern Naples.
Inside the house, the minor was allegedly held tied up, hooded, and immobilized for several hours, until his release within the same day of his captivity. The release came without payment of the requested fee, following a thorough investigation and carefully managed contact with the kidnappers.
The role of Antonio Amiral
The initial breakthrough in the investigation came on April 9 with the arrest of Antonio Amiral, 24, a resident of San Giorgio a Cremano who had previous working relationships with the victim's family.
According to the investigators, admiral He was apparently the primary perpetrator of the kidnapping: CCTV footage shows him dragging the fifteen-year-old into the van, while technical investigations have reconstructed the contact details for the ransom request.
Amiral is accused of kidnapping for ransom, demanding €1.5 million from the boy's father in exchange for his son's release. The 24-year-old, arrested a few hours after the hostage's release, reportedly gave statements to investigators, paving the way for the identification of the other alleged members of the group.
The ransom of one and a half million
The suspected motive remains extortion: the fifteen-year-old's father was allegedly asked for a ransom of one and a half million euros, which was never paid. The contacts were said to have taken place via chat and telephone, with strict instructions not to notify the police, who, however, had already been involved since the first hours after the kidnapping.
The figure, considered particularly high, is interpreted by investigators as indicative of a planned rather than improvised action, linked to the victim's family's perceived financial resources. Further investigations also led to the acquisition of documents attributable to the boy's father's activities, to verify any possible connections to shady economic circles or criminal interests.
