This morning, the Carabinieri of the Sorrento Company executed a precautionary detention order issued by the preliminary investigations judge of the Torre Annunziata Court, at the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office. The order concerns a man seriously suspected of three aggravated e-bike thefts, committed between August 18 and September 7, 2025, in the municipalities of Sorrento and Sant'Agnello.

The charges relate to the theft of three valuable bicycles: two thefts occurred within private premises, while the third occurred on a public road. The investigation, conducted by officers from the Sorrento Carabinieri Station and coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office, utilized footage from public and private video surveillance systems, carefully analyzed to extract crucial details.

Through direct comparisons and cross-examinations, investigators identified a single suspect based on physical characteristics, clothing, and a tattoo on his left upper arm. A check by the Carabinieri on the Sorrento Peninsula proved decisive: the arrested man was a perfect match to the images in the videos depicting the perpetrator of the thefts.

The solid evidentiary framework, with a high probability of guilt, led to the issuance of the precautionary measure. The suspect, already detained at the Naples-Poggioreale prison for another case, was notified on site. Law enforcement emphasizes that these operations strengthen security against the thefts of eco-friendly vehicles, which are increasingly common in the area.
