sorrento A couple—he lives in Gorizia, she is originally from Pomigliano d'Arco—were arrested following an investigation conducted by the Carabinieri of the Sorrento Company and coordinated by the Torre Annunziata Public Prosecutor's Office.

The man was transferred to prison, while his partner is under house arrest with an electronic bracelet. Both are seriously suspected of aggravated theft, improper use of electronic payment devices, and aiding and abetting prostitution.

The Plan: Sex, Distraction, and Stolen Cards

The investigation stemmed from a victim's complaint that his credit card had been stolen during a "private" meeting with a woman. From there, officers from the Sorrento Station reconstructed a well-established scheme, repeated dozens of times between November 2023 and May 2025: over thirty attacks across the Sorrento Peninsula, the Oplonti area, and the Castellammare di Stabia area.

According to what emerged, the woman arranged paid encounters in an apartment provided by her partner. During sex, the man—hiding in another room—used the opportunity to rummage through the victims' clothing, stealing their debit or credit cards. In some cases, he replaced the stolen cards with similar ones from the same bank to delay discovery of the theft.

The two accomplices then acted quickly: with the cards and PINs found in the wallets, they withdrew cash from ATMs or made payments via POS, spending mainly on scratch cards and other instant purchases.

The Role of Man: Exploitation and Online Advertising

The investigation also revealed that the man not only managed the logistics of the meetings, but also exploited his partner's prostitution: he provided her with his apartment, accompanied her to meetings, and promoted her on dating sites, keeping a portion of the earnings.

Investigators cross-referenced video surveillance footage, bank details, chat records, and the contents of the two suspects' cell phones, finding confirmation during house searches.
According to the Torre Annunziata investigating judge, the evidence outlines a couple with "serious behavior and particular organizational skills," responsible for a veritable sex scam ring.

After his arrest, the man was taken to Gorizia prison, while the woman will serve her precautionary measure under house arrest in her own home, monitored by an electronic bracelet.

It's truly incredible how two people can commit such serious crimes. Theft and taking advantage of others are truly unacceptable. We hope justice is served and these acts are severely punished.
