The fight against environmental crimes in the Land of Fires continues unabated. In recent operations, law enforcement and the Army have inspected 32 sites and businesses in the provinces of Naples and Caserta, resulting in 18 seizures, three arrests, and 32 charges. Over 1100 vehicles were inspected, with 20 seized and three licenses revoked, while fines totaled approximately €170,000.
Significant operations were carried out in nomad camps, where drones, solar panels, cameras, and approximately 30 tons of copper electrical cables were seized. A man was also arrested for dumping used oil in Giugliano in Campania. Particular attention was paid to illegal landfills: trucks, hazardous waste, and illegal equipment were seized in Teverola, Gricignano d'Aversa, Sant'Arpino, and Cesa. Targeted checks targeted workshops, car wreckers, and illegal textile businesses, resulting in further seizures and charges.
The system, coordinated by the Prefects of Naples and Caserta, provides constant 24-hour monitoring through drones, video surveillance, and mixed patrols, with the aim of ensuring comprehensive prevention and immediate response to fires, spills, and environmental violations. The integrated effort between the Carabinieri, local police forces, the Army, the Guardia di Finanza, and the Metropolitan Police confirms a more effective and specialized control model, aimed at protecting the environment and citizens' health.
