Castellammare di Stabia – Seven months after the disaster that shattered the Neapolitan spring, the decisive operation to shed light on the Monte Faito cable car tragedy began today.
The complex recovery operations have begun for the cabin that crashed on April 17, an accident that cost the lives of four people – the engineer and three tourists – and left a fourth passenger seriously injured.
The operations, ordered as part of the preliminary investigation by the preliminary investigations judge of the Torre Annunziata Court on June 23, 2025, saw the Fire Brigade of the Naples Provincial Command on the front line.

The crash site, a steep, wooded, and rugged embankment, required a major preliminary cleanup operation: clearing trees, removing loose rocks, and installing scaffolding and safety ladders to ensure access for technicians. Before aerial recovery, the pylon connecting the structure had to be cut.
The recovered cart was immediately transported by land, escorted by the Fire Department, to the Military Spolettificio in Torre Annunziata. There, in facilities made available by the military authorities, it will be made available to the experts appointed by the investigating judge and the parties' technical consultants, who will finally be able to begin the decisive examinations.
Weather permitting, the cabin will open soon
Operations will continue over the next few days. Weather permitting, the goal is to recover and transfer the cabin itself and the remaining portion of the pylon connecting the trolley to the car to the Spolettificio.
With the removal of the remains of the cursed cabin, the investigation enters its most intense phase, aimed at isolating the technical cause that led to the tragic detachment and fall, finally laying the foundations for the full procedural truth.

The situation is very complex and time-consuming. However, it would be helpful if the authorities provided more frequent updates on the investigation's progress to keep the community informed.
This is truly a tragic event, and I hope the truth comes out. But how can we avoid a similar disaster in the future? Security measures must be significantly improved.
