BENEVENTO, NOV 1 – Tragedy struck overnight in the Benevento area , where a 55-year-old security guard lost his life while on duty. The man was hit by a heavy iron gate near the Tufara Valle train station, in the Apollosa area, which had been closed for some time due to EAV railway line reconstruction work.
According to initial reports, the security guard was on his usual patrol of the construction site when the gate, for reasons yet to be clarified, suddenly came off its tracks, crashing to the ground and overwhelming him. The impact was fatal.
The Benevento firefighters , the Carabinieri, and an ambulance responded to the scene, but all attempts to revive the man were unsuccessful. Investigators are now trying to determine whether it was a structural failure or an accidental maneuver.
What happened to that security guard is very sad; it's unimaginable to imagine such incidents. We hope the authorities will clarify the causes of this tragic event and that similar situations never happen again.
