Venice - The planned works on the Ponte nelle Alpi-Calalzo railway line "represent a strategic investment for the safety and efficiency of service in a highly significant mountain area."
The planned works include tunnel and slope maintenance, bridge and viaduct safety improvements, the redevelopment of the Ponte nelle Alpi and Longarone stations, and the upgrade of command, control, and signaling systems.
For these reasons, "in the coming years" the line "will be affected by some scheduled closures necessary to allow for the carrying out" of "important infrastructure works".

This was reported yesterday to the Chamber of Deputies' committee by MIT Undersecretary Tullio Ferrante, specifying that the interventions, "which also include works related to the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, will involve service suspensions during certain periods, but will not affect the months in which the Olympic competitions will be held, so as to guarantee full accessibility during the event."
Specifically, the interruptions are scheduled this year from September 14th to December 14th, in 2026 from March 29th to June 6th and from September 13th to December 12th, and in 2027 from April 4th to June 12th and from September 13th to December 12th. The planning of interventions after 2027 "will be defined in line with the progress of project activities and shared transparently with the institutions and the local community."
Furthermore, Ferrante emphasized, these are "activities that require operational continuity and the use of special equipment, sometimes even helicopters: conditions that make them incompatible with railway operations." And many jobs cannot be done at night "for reasons related to operator safety and visibility."

The news about the railway line work is interesting, but I believe many people aren't aware of all the planned closures, and fifteen of them will cause disruption to travelers during those periods. More information would be helpful.
