Naples - A mystery surrounds the discovery of a body in the entrance hall of a building housing a bakery on Corso San Giovanni a Teduccio, at number 168. Raffaele Di Nunzio, 59, a resident of Barra, was found dead there. Investigators are torn between two diametrically opposed theories: a tragic fall or the brutal violence of an assault.
The emergency call was made at first light, when officers from the Poggioreale Operations Unit and the local station entered the bakery. Waiting for them was Di Nunzio's lifeless body, with numerous lacerated and bruised wounds to his head.
It's precisely the nature of those injuries, so violent and visible, that is dividing investigators. On one hand, the hypothesis of an unfortunate accident, a fatal tumble. On the other, the specter of a fight, an altercation that escalated into murder.
While waiting for the autopsy—the date of which is still to be determined—to provide decisive answers, the Carabinieri are combing the area in the hope of finding witnesses.

Meanwhile, the investigation delves into the victim's past. Raffaele Di Nunzio, a street vendor originally from Torre del Greco but living in Barra, was no stranger to law enforcement. His history with the law, however, stretches back years. Preliminary investigations have revealed no current ties to the organized crime that plagues the eastern suburbs of Naples.
The spotlight thus shifts to the personal sphere, to relationships, to possible grudges or conflicts born in the shadows. Who really was the man found dead between the yeast and the oven? A craftsman victim of chance, or a man with a past that, perhaps, caught up with him in the night, turning his workshop into a death trap?
The Corso San Giovanni mystery still awaits a solution, poised between an inexplicable accident and a punishable crime.

It's difficult to determine whether it was an accident or murder, but I hope investigators find answers soon. The injuries appear serious, and this makes everything even more disturbing.
