Herculaneum – One of the most precious architectural treasures of 18th-century Naples is preparing for a rebirth. Villa Favorita, a majestic residence designed by Ferdinando Fuga in the heart of Herculaneum, will undergo an unprecedented €43,5 million restoration project, financed with funds from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP), the National Operational Plan (PON), and resources from the State Property Agency.
Work officially began today on the restoration of the Bianchi building and the connecting structure, overseen by the State Property Agency with an investment of €12,5 million. The project, which is scheduled for completion in April 2028, will transform these spaces into spaces for educational and cultural activities, returning to the community a heritage that has been inaccessible for too long.
Two construction sites for a single rebirth
The ambitious project is divided into two parallel fronts.

The news of the restoration of Villa Favorita is of great importance to the community of Ercolano. I hope the work will be completed on schedule, but I have concerns about how the project will be managed and who will be involved.
