Naples - Shortly after midnight, the Carabinieri responded to the Santobono Pediatric Hospital following a report to 112. Shortly before, a 13-year-old had arrived at the emergency room with multiple injuries resulting from an assault during an attempted robbery.

According to an initial reconstruction, still being examined by investigators, the young man was in Volla, on Via San Giorgio, near the municipal cemetery. There, he was allegedly approached by a peer who ordered him to hand over his smartphone.

When he refused, the situation escalated: a group of kids, presumably friends of the attacker, surrounded him and punched and kicked him before quickly disappearing.

The 13-year-old was rushed to Santobono Hospital with a code orange status. He suffered abrasions to his head and face and was admitted for further diagnostic tests. His condition, though serious, is not cause for concern: his life is not in danger.

I policePolice at the Volla station are now working to reconstruct the entire incident and identify those responsible for the attack, a new case that rekindles attention on the phenomenon of child gangs in the Vesuvian area.
