An attempted carjacking in Volla resulted in a double arrest and a swift intervention, confirming the increased vigilance of law enforcement in the area. Yesterday afternoon, officers from the Poggioreale Police Station, carrying out their usual patrols, intercepted two men acting suspiciously on Via San Domenico. One of the men was inside a parked car, while his accomplice kept watch outside. Upon seeing the patrol, both attempted to flee, jumping into another car and attempting to flee.
The maneuver wasn't enough to evade the checkpoint: the police reached them within moments, stopped them, and proceeded with checks. Tools clearly intended for burglary were found in the escape vehicle, while the targeted car had its door forced open and its ignition cylinder tampered with. Investigations also revealed that the 44-year-old driver was without a license, a violation he had repeatedly committed over the past two years and thus further aggravating circumstances.
The 44-year-old Neapolitan man and the 26-year-old man from Acireale, both already known to law enforcement, were arrested for attempted aggravated theft, while the older man was also charged with driving without a license. This incident confirms how the timely action of local patrols continues to be a concrete barrier against predatory crimes.

It's always sad to hear about thefts, but it's good that law enforcement is vigilant and takes action quickly. I hope this will prevent similar incidents in the future and protect citizens.
