On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, yet another testimony arrives from Naples of a sick love transformed into obsession and threat.
The background: the complaint and the Red Code
The nightmare for the woman, a 49-year-old Neapolitan woman, became unbearable on October 11th, the day she found the courage to report her husband. The decision to end the marriage was not accepted by the man, who was unable to tolerate the end of the relationship and, above all, the idea that his ex-partner might start a new life with someone else.
Following the complaint, the Carabinieri, coordinated by the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office, immediately activated the "Red Code" procedures, placing a dynamic surveillance station near the victim's home to ensure her safety.
The ambush at Vomero
The situation escalated yesterday afternoon in the hilly Vomero neighborhood. Despite restrictions, the man followed his ex-wife to her workplace. Surveillance cameras in the area captured the entire scene: the 55-year-old aggressively confronted the woman, holding her down and shouting wild accusations of infidelity: "You have someone else."
Terrified, the victim tried in vain to calm him down, eventually managing to flee to seek refuge.

The shocking recording and the intervention of the "Mobile Angel"
A chilling detail emerges from the investigation. During the verbal assault, the woman was on the phone with her sister, who had the forethought to record the conversation. In the audio, the man can be clearly heard shouting unequivocal and brutal death threats: "I'll come get you even with your bracelet on. I'll cut off your head."
Having taken refuge in the barracks ofCarabinieriAt the Vomero Arenella station, the 49-year-old was immediately taken to safety. The officers activated the "Mobile Angel"—a wearable device connected directly to the operations center for stalking victims—and escorted her home.
While the woman was being taken to safety, Carabinieri patrol cars combed the neighborhood for the stalker. That evening, the man was located and arrested near his home.
Arrested on charges of stalking, the 55-year-old was placed under house arrest pending trial, apprehended just in time before the threats could turn tragic.

This situation is truly worrying and makes us reflect on how violence can manifest even in seemingly normal relationships. It's important for victims to find the courage to report, even though it's never easy. Authorities must do more to protect these women.
