Naples – A settling of scores ended badly: punches, slaps, and a swift kidnapping to avenge the disappearance of a luxury Audi RS3 worth €80. Six alleged associates or associates of the feared Mazzarella clan, active in the San Giovanni a Teduccio neighborhood, are now facing charges for two kidnappings.
The crucial court date is set for January 27th, when investigating judge Antonio Baldassarre will preside over the preliminary hearing. The six newly accused, detained by the Carabinieri in the midst of their punitive action, will appear before the judge: Arturo Lama, Salvatore De Filippo, Giuseppe Ciccarelli, Salvatore Giannetti, Mario Amaro, and Antonio Martori.
For the defense team, composed of attorneys Leopoldo Perone, Luigi Poziello, Diego Pedicini, and Alessandro Pignataro, the crucial phase of their strategy now begins. The most likely scenario is that all the defendants will opt for the fast-track trial, seeking a reduction in their sentences given the serious charges.
The plot of the vanished car
The entire affair revolves around the €80 rental of an Audi RS3 from a company in Isernia. Instead of being returned, the car was apparently stolen—perhaps sold—by the rental companies themselves, Vincenzo Vaccaro (known to law enforcement as a fraud specialist) and Andrea Grammatikas.
The victims, connected to the rental company (and according to investigators, associated with shady circles), refused to accept the setback. Thanks to the GPS tracker mounted under the hood, they were able to track down the vanished car and, subsequently, the two perpetrators of the scam.
The kidnapping and beating in San Giovanni
Revenge was swift: the first rental agent, summoned under a pretext to a bar in Fuorigrotta, was immediately cornered and severely beaten. Under pressure from the beatings, the man was forced to reveal the name of his accomplice, Andrea Grammatikas.
The criminal group then kidnapped the intended victim and took him to an apartment in the San Giovanni a Teduccio neighborhood, on Via Castagnola. There, the kidnapped man was joined by his accomplice, and the beating resumed with violence. With slaps, punches, and death threats, the group demanded immediate payment of the €80 "hole."
Fortunately, the desperate screams coming from the apartment didn't go unnoticed. A timely anonymous call to 112 triggered the Carabinieri's raid. Law enforcement officers swooped on the scene of the kidnapping last March, interrupting the attack and rescuing the two victims. The six alleged kidnappers were immediately arrested, putting an end to the brutal showdown.
