Naples – A snatch theft occurred in a 20-year-old Neapolitan man during the nightlife of the Chiaia district. The young man, out with friends on a Friday night, was approached by three people: one pushed him, while an accomplice snatched a gold necklace from his neck, a gift from his grandfather before his death. Immediately afterward, the group allegedly threatened to beat him if he asked for help; one of the attackers allegedly lifted his shirt to reveal, presumably, a gun tucked into his pants.
The victim reported the incident to MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli (Green-Left Alliance), calling for increased surveillance in nightlife areas. "Criminals are increasingly unscrupulous, operating in groups and believing they can get away with it," Borrelli stated. "Nightlife must not become a land of conquest. We need more patrols and a constant police presence, especially on weekends, when thousands of young people flock to these areas. Criminals must feel the heat: the state is there and intervenes. The safety of honest citizens must return to being a priority."
Investigations are underway to identify the group responsible for the robbery. This incident is part of a series of reports of muggings and flash robberies in the alleys of Chiaia during peak traffic hours.

It's incredible how the security situation has deteriorated in recent years. I hope law enforcement can intervene more frequently and more effectively to protect citizens and prevent these incidents of violence.
