Yesterday afternoon marked a new chapter in the fight against drug dealing in San Giovanni a Teduccio. Officers from the San Giovanni-Barra Police Station, supported by the Police Headquarters' canine units, raided an apartment, surprising a twenty-year-old Neapolitan man already known to law enforcement. The drug-sniffing dog, which detected the scent of hashish hidden within the home, sealed off every escape route. Approximately 220 grams of the substance were found inside the home, some of it already divided into doses, along with precision scales, sachets, and material related to retail dealing.
The operation is part of a broader strategy by the Naples Police Headquarters, which in recent weeks has intensified checks in the eastern neighborhoods to curb the activity of small distribution networks. The young man, taken by surprise, offered no resistance and was immediately arrested for possession with intent to sell. After the usual formalities, he was transferred to Poggioreale prison, where he awaits judicial approval. Investigations continue to clarify the source of the drugs and verify the existence of a network that may have fueled the supply.

It's true that more attention is needed, but sometimes law enforcement does what it can. Fighting organized crime isn't easy; resources are limited, and results are slow to appear.
The article talks about a major operation, but I don't know if the controls are sufficient to stop drug dealing. The authorities need more commitment to address this drug problem plaguing our city.
