Salerno – A violent crash between a truck and a car paralyzed the A2 “Autostrada del Mediterraneo” motorway this morning, on the stretch towards Salerno.
The accident, which occurred in the early hours of the morning, forced the complete closure of the roadway, causing major traffic disruption in the middle of the weekend and causing inconvenience to thousands of motorists.
The cause of the collision, the conditions of the drivers, and the extent of the property damage are still being investigated by investigators. However, the scene at the scene demonstrates the severity of the impact: vehicles, still being towed away, are blocking the roadway, necessitating the complete closure of the stretch of road to allow for rescue operations and initial assessments by the Highway Patrol.
Teams at work and traffic diverted
Anas emergency teams, in coordination with traffic police officers, responded immediately to manage the traffic emergency and attempt to restore traffic as quickly as possible. The situation, however, remains critical, and long queues are expected.

To circumvent the roadblock, Anas has issued a mandatory alternative route for all vehicles heading to the Campania capital or north: use the Pontecagnano exit, merge onto the Salerno ring road, and rejoin the A2 at the "Salerno Fratte" junction.
Authorities are urging motorists to avoid the area at all costs unless absolutely necessary, to follow temporary signs, and to stay updated through official channels (Anas website and navigation apps with traffic alerts). The reopening of the roadway is subject to the completion of rescue and safety operations, with a timeline still unclear.
