A 12-year-old boy finds himself hospitalised in Intensive Care at the Gaslini hospital in Genoa with a reserved prognosis after being hit by aambulance On emergency duty. The accident occurred this morning around 7:30 a.m. on Via Archimede, just a few meters from the school entrance where the twelve-year-old was about to go to class.

The emergency vehicle, with sirens blaring and an intubated patient on board, struck the child as he was crossing the street. It's still unclear whether the child was crossing at the pedestrian crossing or in the immediate vicinity.

The impact was violent: the 118 emergency services responded immediately to the scene, intubated the twelve-year-old and urgently transported him to the Gaslini pediatric hospital.

The Local Police temporarily closed Via Archimede to allow the Accident Unit to reconstruct the exact circumstances of the incident. Investigators will need to determine the exact responsibilities and any traffic violations, while also considering the legal implications of an accident involving an emergency vehicle.

His clinical condition remains critical. According to the Gaslini medical bulletin, the boy arrived at the hospital "hemodynamically stable, but with a case of multiple trauma characterized by a particularly severe head injury." Immediately transferred to intensive care, the twelve-year-old is undergoing advanced neurological monitoring.

The hospital emphasizes that the prognosis remains reserved "due to the complexity of the clinical picture and the need for continuous observation, also in view of any surgical and specialist evaluations that may be necessary."

I don't understand how something like this could have happened. Ambulance drivers should always be careful, but pedestrians should also be careful when crossing the street. It's a very complex situation.

It's truly sad to see such a young boy involved in such a serious accident. I hope the authorities can clarify what happened, because it's important to understand how to avoid similar situations in the future. The child's health is the priority.
