Naples - Carabinieri officers from the Napoli Stella Company's Operational Unit have struck a decisive blow against drug trafficking in the heart of Scampia. During coordinated searches supported by canine units, the officers discovered a veritable criminal arsenal hidden among the area's buildings.

In Parco delle Rose, inside a basement in Block 7, investigators found a fully loaded 9x19 Glock pistol: two magazines already inserted and 10 rounds ready for use. Next to the weapon, additional ammunition—a magazine and 50 9mm NATO rounds—along with packaging material, evidence of a well-structured and organized drug dealing operation.

But the real coup of the search was the discovery of drugs: 4.25 kilos of hashish, 343 grams of crack, 4 doses of cocaine, and 288 grams of cobret, the synthetic amphetamine increasingly popular in Neapolitan squares. The operation also extended to the Oasi del Buon Pastore on Via Arcangelo Ghisleri, where the Carabinieri seized an additional 1.687 kilos of hashish and 900 grams of cocaine, bringing the total to 7,5 kilos of narcotics.

A conclusion that leaves no doubt: the war on drugs continues in Scampia, where weapons and drugs coexist in the same criminal economy.

It's impressive how law enforcement manages to find so many drugs in a place like Scampia, but I wonder if there are enough resources to combat this problem, which appears to be very serious and widespread.
