Sixty thousand euros have been committed to Christmas lights, yet Arzano—as of December 10th—is still completely in the dark. This is a harsh indictment launched by opposition city councilors Luigi De Rosa, Nicola Falzarano, and Natale Russo, who openly call it an "insult to the city" and "intolerable waste" by the administration led by Mayor Cinzia Aruta.
"The documents are clear," says Luigi De Rosa, "the administration has committed €60 for the lights, €20 of which is for the structure planned for Piazza Cimmino alone. A figure that borders on the absurd. And what's the result? Arzano is still unlit. This isn't just a waste: it's a disrespect for the citizens."
Nicola Falzarano agrees, speaking of "planning failure across the board." "We're dealing with an administration that—in our opinion—is navigating blindly, lacking transparency and management skills. Spending tens of thousands of euros to find themselves without a single street light is demeaning to the city and humiliating an entire community."
Natale Russo was even more blunt, calling the entire affair "an administrative disaster." "We ask Mayor Aruta to present herself to the citizens and explain clearly: why €60? Why €20 for a single installation? And above all: why, despite everything, is Arzano still in the dark? Enough is enough. We will not accept any further attempts to shift responsibility or downplay what happened."
The three councilors have announced a fight: "We will continue to denounce any waste and any action we deem detrimental to the community's interests. Arzano cannot be a laboratory for improvisation: it deserves a capable, transparent administration that is attentive to the city's real needs."
