Casavatore – "The students authentically approached a painful chapter in the area's history, transforming it with their interventions into an opportunity for civic engagement," said Democratic Party Councilor Elsa Picaro. "Together, we commemorated Dario, so that no one will be forgotten and that the fight against illegality is never just a word, but a daily commitment.
Judge Nicola Graziano left us a message that resonates within: freedom is the most precious asset we have, and he urged students to feel an active part of change, conscious protagonists of the future. Today, Casavatore has chosen, once again, to stand by memory and thanks the Scherillo family for transforming their greatest wound into commitment, testimony, and love for the rule of law. A day that will remain in the heart of our community.
Pasquale Scherillo spoke to thank Mayor Fabrizio Celaj. "The right place is where each of us feels at home, and Casavatore is home for the Scherillo family. It's fitting and beautiful that Dario be celebrated in his hometown, his home."
It's part of the history of this area, a symbol of redemption for so many good people. Thanks to those who believed in the project, to those who chose to commemorate, to those who decided that the story of their fellow citizen Dario be told, preserved, and passed down. A fitting place, therefore, is the council chamber packed with young people.

It's important for students to remember Judge Graziano's story and message, but I don't understand why more isn't being done for civic education in schools. We need to do more to help young people grow.
